Craft 6: Wishes

Okay, I'm sure you all know the 'magical' wishing powers of blowing the seeds and fluff off a dandelion. So here's a craft to keep you wishing when the winter freezes away the flowers.

Materials:
  • Jar
  • Dandelions
  • Paper
  • Thread
  • Pencil or Marker
  • Hole Punch or Scissors
  • Glitter (Optional)
Directions:
  1. Open the jar and put the lid or cork aside.
  2. Pull all the seeds and fluff off the dandelions and mix the glitter into it if you want sparkles.
  3. Put the mixture in the jar.
  4. Close the jar and make sure it won't open.
  5. Write "Wishes" or whatever label you want on the paper but make sure it's small enough to be a reasonably sized label.
  6. Punch a hole in the paper.
  7. Thread the string through the hole and tie it around the neck of the jar.
  8. Pull out a puff, make a wish, and blow it away!

Craft 2: Glowing Drinks

Sorry guys, my first post for craft 2 didn't work, so here's a craft I know works.

This is from a wonderful blog called Come Together Kids. You can access it here.

Materials:
  • Opaque cup (aka a red Solo cup)
  • Clear plastic tumbler (it has to be shorter than the opaque cup)
  • Glow stick
  • Soda or snow cone
Directions:
  1. Put the glow stick in the bottom of the opaque cup. If it has the link, it might be helpful to make it into a circle so it doesn't push up.
  2. Put the clear tumbler into the big cup.
  3. Fill the cup with your drink.
  4. Voila!

Craft 5: Custom Tableware

This simple craft (I didn't get a picture of the one I did) is a perfect gift.

Materials:

  • Old plate or mug
  • Sharpie
  • Oven
To Make:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Decide on a design; Sharpies are permanent.
  3. Draw that on your plate or mug.
  4. Once the oven is ready, put it in for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
  5. Let it cool.
  6. Voila!

Craft 4: Homemade Mod Podge

Elmer's white glue + water shaken up = Mod Podge. It won't hold for quite as long and may yellow after a couple years, but it works.

Craft 3: The Digital World

There are so many apps to make things like the above picture. Some of my favorite mobile apps are Phonto, Superimpose, and Image Chef. You have to experiment and see what you like. Some of my simpler Mac apps are ColorStrokes, Pencil Sketch EZ, Sketchbook Express, and Art Text 2 Lite.

Craft 1: Homemade Sea Glass

Homemade Sea Glass:
Ingredients:
  • Elmer's Glue (white glue works)
  • Water
  • Food coloring
  • (Optional) Glow-in-the-dark acrylic paint
  • (Instead off the water and glue) Mod Podge works
Directions:
  1. Take some kind of glass (bottles and jars work best), and make sure it's not scratched or dirty (unless you want a lot of texture).
  2. Dump glue into a paper cup and add a little bit of water, until its not runny but is slightly liquidy. Stir it until it mixes thoroughly; it will lump up a little at first.
  3. Mix in food coloring. I added around four or five drops of food coloring; this is equal parts blue and green Martha Stewarts gel.
  4. If you want it to glow in the dark, buy glowing acrylic paint, and mix it in instead of some the food coloring.
  5. Get a large paintbrush and paint over the jar; it will eventually lose the strokes. (If you want to paint the bottom, start with it standing on the top.)
  6. Let it stand there until its totally dry.
Notes: It will fade off a little at first, but once its dry, it looks great!   If you chose to make it glow, you need to charge it in the sun or light.

Hi... This is my blog.

Okay... Hi. I'm Becca. This blog is my way of showing you all the cool DIYs and crafts I've figured out and stumbled upon. So I'll post random crafts. Some I've done, some I haven't. That's cool, right?
